  • All physical controls, imaging functions, and external peripherals work normally

Common Causes

  • Calibration data drift — the touchscreen's coordinate mapping gradually shifts with normal use
  • Couplant gel residue or oil buildup on the screen surface — affects the conductive layer's contact resistance
  • Loose ribbon cable connection between touchscreen and main board — causes intermittent signal attenuation
  • Software cache anomaly — temporary glitch resolved by full power cycle
  • Physical damage to the resistive ITO layer — scratches, dents, or cracks (cannot be fixed by calibration)

How to Fix

Step 1: 7-Step Touchscreen Calibration

⚠️ Before starting: Disconnect ALL probes. Calibration involves a system reboot — leaving probes connected may cause recognition errors on restart. Do not power off mid-calibration. Use your finger — not a stylus or hard object. Do not rotate the screen during calibration.1

  1. Press the Support key — located on the upper-right area of the control panel, marked with two gear icons (⚙️).
  2. Navigate to Test/Utilities → Hardware Utilities.
  3. Confirm the prompt and disconnect all probes. A warning window appears: "Please disconnect all probes. Do not power off during calibration. System will restart after calibration completes." Unplug all probes, then click Yes.
  4. Select Touch Screen, then click Run Test.
  5. Clear old calibration data. A prompt appears: "Calibration data was successfully removed." Click OK. This erases the old calibration parameters so the touchscreen can relearn your touch positions.
  6. Tap each of 16 cross-hair markers (✚) in sequence. The markers appear across all areas of the screen — four corners, edges, and center. 🔴 Tap precisely on the center of each cross-hair. Do NOT press and hold — this is the opposite of GE LOGIQ E9. If you mis-tap or slide on any point, the entire calibration restarts from the beginning. Take your time — accuracy here determines calibration quality.1
  7. Save calibration data. After all 16 points complete, the system asks whether to save. Select Yes. Exit the Support menu — the system will perform a full restart automatically.

After reboot, test the touchscreen. In most cases, responsiveness returns to normal.

Step 2: If Calibration Didn't Fix It — 6-Step Hardware Checklist

When to Call Philips Service

Stop troubleshooting and contact Philips official support or an authorized service provider if any of these apply:1

  • Visible physical damage to the screen surface (scratches, dents, cracks)
  • A localized "dead zone" persists after calibration — a specific area remains completely unresponsive
  • Systematic offset persists after calibration — tapping position A still registers at position B
  • Ribbon cable is confirmed intact and firmly connected, but touch signals remain abnormal

💡 Before calling: Record the specific symptoms — which areas are unresponsive, offset direction, when the problem started. This helps the service engineer diagnose faster.
