  • Environmental factors — temperature fluctuations and humidity can accelerate calibration drift

How to Fix

GE Official 2-Step Method: Verify First, Then Calibrate

⚠️ Critical difference from other brands: GE LOGIQ E9 calibration requires you to press and hold each cross-hair until it moves to the next position. If you just tap it, the calibration data will likely be corrupt. This is the opposite of Philips EPIQ, which requires a light tap.1

Step 1: Calibration Verification (confirm you actually need to recalibrate)

  1. Tap Utility (wrench icon, bottom-left of touchscreen). If the screen is so misaligned you can't hit Utility, use the trackball to navigate — it's immune to touchscreen drift.
  2. Navigate to Service → log in with appropriate credentials. ⚠️ Multiple failed login attempts may trigger a security lockout.
  3. Go to Test → check TP Calibration Verification → click Execute.
  4. A grid appears on screen. Touch several random positions on the grid. Each touch produces a red dot.
  5. Judge the result: ✅ Red dot appears exactly where you touched → calibration is fine, no action needed. ❌ Red dot is offset from where you touched → proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: TP Calibration (9-point press-and-hold)

  1. In the Test menu, check TP Calibration → click Execute.
  2. The screen displays a cross-hair (✚) at the first of 9 positions — covering all four corners, edges, and center.
  3. Press and hold your finger on the exact center of each cross-hair. Keep holding until the cross-hair automatically jumps to the next position. Do NOT lift your finger early. Do NOT tap.1
  4. Repeat for all 9 positions. If you mis-press or lift early on any point, the entire calibration must be restarted from the beginning.
  5. After all 9 points complete, exit the Service menu. The system will prompt a restart — confirm and wait for the reboot to finish.
  6. After restart, test the touchscreen responsiveness. It should be back to normal.

If Calibration Doesn't Fix It

  • If Calibration Verification passes (red dots align) but touch is still inaccurate, the issue is likely physical damage to the ITO layer — not calibration drift. Inspect the screen surface for scratches, dents, or cracks.1
  • If the touchscreen is completely dead (no response anywhere, trackball still works), check the touchscreen ribbon cable connection to the main board.
  • Pre-calibration: For screens so severely misaligned that normal calibration won't start, GE offers a Pre-calibration procedure. This requires a GE-authorized engineer — do not attempt it without proper credentials.
